The Lester R. Brown Reading Room

Lester R. Brown, Rutgers BS 1955 Agriculture, is arguably the world's most influential environmentalist. In 1974, he founded the Worldwatch Institute, the first research institute devoted solely to the analysis of global environmental issues. In 2001, Brown founded the Earth Policy Institute to provide a vision and a road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy. He is the author or co-author of 55 books on global environmental issues and his works have been translated into 44 languages. He has delivered 1,248 lectures in 42 countries. His legacy will live on in the Lester R. Brown Reading Room in Martin Hall at Rutgers University, New Brunswick and the archival Earth Policy Institute website.
